Sweet Sentiments

I am just having so much fun with my Copics and New Sensational Season Stamp Set from Close to My Heart.  Here is another Spring/Easter Card I created with some $1.00 finds at Michael's.

I also wanted to announce a Fun New Idea my family is going to start.  Once a month I am going to gather as many Thinking of You, You are so Special, and Happy Birthday cards that I can, and take a trip with my kids to a local Nursing Home.  The plan is to share a little love with those that sometimes get forgotten in our busy lives.  My mother worked as a nurse in many nursing homes while I was growing up and I remember weekends spent with our many adopted grandparents.  They are great memories of my childhood and I want to be able to share that with my children before they start to leave home.  For my local Creative Cutter Friends if you are interested in a card making get together to help make some of these cards-let me know-the more the merrier!!!  I will have all the supplies on hand I just need some Creative ideas to get us started.  I am going on a Retreat just before Passover and hopefully I can come back with  loads of cards to deliver in time for Easter & Mother's Day.  This was actually my Hubby's Idea and we had a fun time naming our New Adventure.  We are going to call it Sweet Sentiments.  I can't wait to get started!!

Looks Like Spring?

Still time to enter Design Time Thursday Challenge HERE for your chance to win one of Emma's Stamp Set.
I used my NEW Copic Markers and Free Stamp Set from Close to My Heart.  I also used Picturesque Cricut cartridge to cut the Laurel around the bunny.  I used a Cuttlebug Textile Pattern embossing Folder for the background texture and some new lacy ribbon from American Crafts.

Talk Time Tuesday:  Does it look like Spring where you are?  It was snowing and hailing today in Utah. Luckily it didn't stick, but its still feels cold and wet and I am SO READY for SPRING!!  I made this card to enter in a couple of Springtime Challenges:  Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenge #2
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #53 Looks Like Spring
and thought I would be fun to hear if anyone has Springtime weather where they live.  So make us all jealous ladies and let us know where the weather is beautiful and the flowers are blooming.  If you would like to share a Springtime Project then post one below.  I will be giving a Prima Paper Pad to one lucky random winner that posts a comment to this post.
The winner of last week's TTT is:

That is awesome! I am NOT a sewer, so the concept of faux stitching was entirely lost on me when I thought it had to be done with a needle and thread. I love that you can just use a pen and stencils! TFS!! I am always
interested in anything to do with the cricut. I'm still figuring mine out. So any info on that is always great!
Email me your Snail Mail to receive your Nikki Sivils Prize-Congrats!!!!

Run Jump Play: Disney Card

I forgot to post the Finished Project for my Cricut Cartridge Review Episode #2 pieces.  I made this birthday card for my daughter's friend (boy) that will be having a birthday shortly.  This is very him-Happy  Birthday Landon!
Besides the cuts in the video I used DCWV pattern paper from the Green Stack and twine from Paper Trey Ink.  The stamp set on the cover is from Making Memories: Giggle Kids.  Here is the inside of the card.

Cuttlebug Discovery

I made a really cool find at Expo on Day 2.  I found a travel cosmetic case in some really fun colors that came with over the shoulder detachable straps.  These make up cases are padded and made really sturdy in this adorable shape so I got to thinking.........and sure enough I found I had a new Cuttlebug case.  Check this out.
My Cuttlebug has it's very own travel case with plenty of room for the cutting pads.  Since I take this on my Retreats for ladies to use-it's nice to finally have a proper case.  I may even take it on the cruise now.  I will try to find a link for these cosmetic cases if anyone else is interested.  I also think they sell them in Walmart & Shopko: Here is the logo name.

Expo Fun!!!

Jinger is the sweetest person on earth-so great to chat with her-and plan a trip to France to pick up our favorite Coco Chanel accessory (lol).

Our second favorite is Cricut Chat of course.  So fun to have her come over to my Retreat Booth.  You are awesome Jinger.  Don't forget to check out her upcoming class here:  http://www.cricut.com/classroom/
Here is a Creative Cutter exclusive-I was giving away the Campin' Critter Cartridge to one lucky winner that stopped by my booth on the First day of Scrapbook Expo and guess who happened to notice the giveaway--Curt Jensen--the designer of Campin' Critters himself.  This is his first released Cricut Cartridge and he has others in the works now .  His website is Typecastcreative.blogspot.com.  So stop by his site and see what else he is working on.  He tells me he likes to see what others have created with his images.  I am a fan of this cartridge and will choose this as my next Cricut Cartridge Review.  Thanks for the great images Curt-keep up the good work!
Big Crafty hugs to my BFF's Joyce, Anne, Deanne, and Wendy for all of your help on the booth on Friday-Big hugs to my big sis Mary who as always saves the day.  It was a good first day and it was so fun to make bookmarks with the first Every Young Scrappers Club-see you all at Expo tomorrow!

New Bichon Frise puppies

My Mom's Bichon had 9 puppies and they were all so adorable.  I put an add in the classifieds for her to help her sell them now that they are weened and we had 345 hits in 24 hours.  Needless to say they have all been adopted into loving homes.  Can't wait for my little Keira to have her new batch of babies.  They are due next month.  I'm a furry grandma twice now.

The NEW Look!!!

Hi everyone-As you can see the NEW look is done and my Blog Lift is complete.  I hope you like the new look.  Thank you for the very nice comments so far!  I think Lauren from Designer Blogs did an amazing job!  She was so incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help me get just what I wanted.  Click HERE to go to her site.

I wanted to take this opportunity to explain why I have a Strawberry as my Logo and why there are some AWESOME ROOSTERS floating around the Creative Cutter Room.  I have had many, many life-altering tragedies effect my life from as far back as I can remember and have learned over the years from real experiences just how delicate life can be.  I have also been fortunate enough to finally understand that from tragedy comes understanding and strength.  I am finally in a place in my life where I understand how blessed we are to have one more day and how truly sweet life can be.  When my husband and I started our lives together I wanted to celebrate these two realities of my life-- the Delicate and the Sweet.  The first thing that came to mind to symbolize delicate and sweet was the strawberry.  I have used it to decorate my home for the past 7 years and I love it more and more each passing year!  The roosters are in honor of my Grandmother, that told me roosters are representative of being a hard worker-they are the first ones up every morning ready to start the day.  That has stuck with me and become even more important in my life when she passed 5 years ago. My website is where I try to share not only Cricut fun, but a little of myself with crafty Friends.  Thank you for checking in and leaving comments, and becoming followers.  I have enjoyed being part of the crafting community and I am so excited to have a little more organized personal way to share.
Big Crafty Hugs,

Talk Time Tuesday: Faux Stitching Tips

Creative Cutter Gaby has some great tips to share with you today.  Go to the end of the post to find out how to win this AMAZING Prize Package from our Sponsor Nikki Sivils.   Just Click on her name to check out her Blog.

If you find yourself not wanting to take out or use your sewing machine, or you do not own one, here are some tips on creating faux stitching that might just help you.
Stitching tips:
Faux Stitching
Above I have four pens that I will show how I used to create faux stitching.
White = Uni-ball Signo broad and Sakura Gelly Roll Medium
Black = Pentel EnerGel Liquid Gel Ink Needle Tip 0.5 and Sharpie Fine Tip
On this picture I am drawing stitching lines freehand with the Signo pen
Here is the technique I prefer to use since I do not have a steady hand.  I place a ruler and draw my lines/stitches every other 1/8".  I feel this give a much even and straight look.
On this picture you can see that I drew to the far right/shorter strip free handed some stitches lines. To the right I used the Signo and the inside or next to it with the Gelly.  And on the long strip of stitches, I used the Gelly to the right and the Signo on the left side.  From this demonstration, I like the Gelly pen better.
On the above picture I used both black pens. Sharpie to the right and EnerGel to the left.  I prefer the feel and smoothness of the EnerGel better.
The above is just one technique or way to create faux stitching.  Below I will show yet another way using templates.  There are several companies that sell templates in many sizes and styles.  The the left you see some from Bazzill and to the right one from the CraftersWorkshop.  These templates are versatile in the sense that you can use to draw lines with your pens or poke tiny holes for different uses that I will demonstrate below.

Using a mat and a poker/pick after lining up my template to the paper, I poked holes on my paper.
I than drew lines from hole to hole to give the illusion of stitching.  You can also use thread and needle and hand stitch.
Yet another way to create faux stitching.  Here I used Sew Easy by running it on top of my mat. Sew Easy comes in a beginner pack and they sell you several attachments with different designs. You can find at most crafting stores.

And just one more idea.  You can use fine tip Sharpies or pens in different colors to give the illusion of having used colored thread.  Just make sure that the pen is acid free if you will be using on your scrap books.
On this card I used one of the templates above and faux stitching.
Thanks for visiting and I hope this tips help at least one of you!

Design Time Thursday....I see Leprechauns Challenge

I can't believe it I've caught my very own Leprechaun!!
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone.  I am excited to share a fun challenge with all of you today.  The wonderful Emma Aguilar from My Creative Time has very generously donated one of her New Stamp Sets:  I believe in Leprechauns today for our winner.
First let's take a look at what the Creative Cutter Design Team has come up with for your Inspiration:

Let's all send her our support and thank her for her wonderful generosity.
FOR THE CHALLENGE:
Create a NEW project showing us what you feel LUCKY to have in your life right now.
LINK your Project below this post and LEAVE A COMMENT.
I would feel LUCKY to have you as a Follower but it is not necessary to enter challenge.
If you do not have a Blog or Photobucket account-JUST LEAVE A COMMENT.
I personally feel like I've caught a Leprechaun because I am so LUCKY to have an amazingly supportive Husband that does all he can to build me up...amazing children that always find a way to make me proud to be their mom....amazing friends that always have my back and offer me kind words of encouragement....and amazing group of Designers that take time from their busy lives to come play in the Creative Cutter Room!
Here are the steps to how I caught my LUCKY LEPRECHAUN
Use tacky tape to glue mesh to inside of mini pail
Cut the inside of doily and ink up to look like grass-also use Plantin Schoolbook Cart to cut out a grass background and put in the back of the pail.
Use a hammer & nail to make hole in the lid of the pail
Cut two Leprechauns at 2" from Paper Doll Dress Up
I used Emma's stamp set to make a tag-Are you feeling Lucky?
Hang Leprechaun inside of the pail-I glued a coin to his feet to stabilize him in the pail-he won't go anywhere without his GOLD!  Here he is trapped and sending some good LUCK my way.

The winner chosen with Random.org for the Lucky to Have you Challenge is.....
Lisa
