Prize Gift Basket

Here it is ladies.  I didn't have a basket big enough for all of it so I put it into two.  The entries are all in-no more submissions will be accepted.  I will post a video on New Year's Day showing who's name I picked out of the bucket.  I will video all the names going in and my 5 year old drawing a name out.  This seems to be a great way to make it fair no matter when you entered.  Thank you so much for sharing your holiday traditions and family events with all of us.  It was so nice to read what everyone did this year.  Mostly I think we all enjoyed some quality FAMILY TIME!  Thank you for all of the wonderful Birthday wishes.  I did have a Fantastic Day!
Happy New Year Ladies-Here's to 2011 and all of the Crafting Fun that's ahead.

YouTube News

This is a Good News Bad News situation!  I have had so many of my wonderful Creative Cutter Friends visit my YouTube Chanel {CathieRigby} that I have now been allowed to post videos that run longer then 10 minutes.  Yeah for me, because editing my long windedness(I just invented a new word) was getting really hard.  I felt like I was cutting so much info(tips) out of each video.  The bad news is all yours my friends because now you have to deal with my LONGER videos.  Sorry I know it will be rough!!  Thank heavens for fast forward-I will not be offended, because I won't even know!!! ;)  So to celebrate I am posting a glimpse into one of my Cricut Classes/Workshops.  For those of you that have been Followers for awhile you will remember that I had a class in Elko a few months back.  These wonderful ladies invited me to come teach in their high school and we had a BLAST!!!  I know some of you received Cricut surprises from Santa this year so I wanted to share a portion of my Cricut Class to get you started on the right foot.

Talk Time Tuesday: What do you want to know about your Cricut?

To enter Cartridge Giveaway click HERE

So the topic today is What do you want to know about your Cricut?  As I prepare for my NEW YEAR of classes, I started to think about all of the NEW cartridges released and the NEW colored machines, and all of the NEW paper collections out there-I noticed that there wasn't a lot of NEW information out about the Cricut or the Gypsy.  Is that because we all know our machines so well, or because we are all busy trying to learn the New Imagine?  Do you know everything you want to know about your machine?

Well help me prepare for a new year of classes and tell me everything you want to know about your Cricut and are unsure about or want to see explained a little better.  This year I want everyone to LOVE their Cricut and use it to its fullest potential.  Share what you LOVE about your machine and what I should teach my New Students.   Don't forget to click on the link above to Enter the Cartridge Giveaway-entries will be accepted up to December 30th when I will randomly draw out a winner.  The winner will be announced on a video on New Year's Day!

Rapunzel Tower

To Enter Cartridge Giveaway click HERE

My girls and I are dying to go see the new Disney movie Tangled, but since we aren't able to find the time right now-I thought it would be fun to make my 5 year old a play tower for her Polly's.  This Tangled Tower is really my blueprint for a real one I hope my hubby will help me make of wood.  Yes I know we could just go buy one but this is more fun and involves the whole family.  The tower is a paper towel roll covered in cardstock that I used my Batman Cartridge & Cricut Markers to draw a brick pattern on.  I used leaf ribbon to create the climbing ivy and I cut a piece of transparency with the Christmas Noel Cart to make a window.  The Chair & paper roses are from Happily Ever After.  My Rapunzel is going to be an altered Princess Aurora.

The floor part was cut from Plantin:  I just used a 5" Circle and used the Center Point Function Button to make a hole in the middle to insert the paper towel roll.  I used a leftover ribbon bolt to attach to the bottom of paper towel roll.  I then cut another circle in green with a smaller circle inside of it using Center Point Function again.

Nostalgic Christmas

This amazing two page layout was also made by Creative Cutter Lena and holds several years worth of Christmas Memories.  It features the new line of BoBunny Christmas Paper and showcases her family's pictures.  The second page has a little flip book where she managed to add several more photos and still leave room for that important journaling section we can't forget to include.  What says Christmas more than sharing your thoughts of Joy and Fulfillment.  Families are such a blessing in our lives and Christmas is a wonderful time to appreciate and treasure those we hold dear.

Explosion 12x12 Layout

This beautiful project was created by Creative Cutter Lena from my Design Team.  She managed to add lots of photos, layers and room for journaling all on one 12x12 Single Page Layout.  I think you will agree that it turned out Beautifully!!

open the front and you have room for 3 more photographs
open one more time in the center and you have room for a full 8x10 Portrait!  An amazing use of space.

Love It!!!

How did they know  what I was dreaming about????  LOL

Gingerbread House Creative Cutter Style

I was asked by the Canyons School District to teach a kids Christmas Craft for their after school community education project and I thought why not.  They told me I would be teaching 3rd & 4th graders and as it so happens I have a 4th grader so I thought this would be fun.  I had a hard time deciding what to do, but finally chose a Gingerbread House.  Kids love gingerbread houses right?  Well my House has a surprise.  Once the kids paint & decorate this foam core house.  They will be able to open it up and use it to imagine Santa coming over for a visit.  I covered the inside walls with felt and the inside of the roof with Chalkboard Vinyl and the kids will be able to interact with their Gingerbread House.  This class will be taught on Dec 7th and 14th for one hour each time.  All supplies are included and should be a great time for all.  I will be posting a video next week after the first class with measurements if anyone would like to try one for your little ones at home.  The version my kids will be using will of course heavily feature Paper Doll Dress Up & Winter Frolic Characters made with what else my CRICUT.

6 x6 Page Display Stand

I was originally going to post this on Sunday but my back is giving me fits this week so I'm a little behind on some of my projects--sorry ladies!

I was telling my husband about a cute stand I saw made by 7 gypies that I thought would be a nice way to  display sample mini pages I create and he immediately got to work and created this lovely Page Display for me.  Isn't he AWESOME!!!  This stand measures 8" high and 10" across and is a wonderful way to display a new 6x6 layout each month.  Since I make a calendar project every year I thought this stand would make a perfect ALBUM/CALENDAR KIT.
I will post a full video showing you how to paint and assemble the kits.
If you want a STAND ONLY
The cost will be $13.00
and will include two book clips and six page protectors to insert your pages into.
If you want a STAND & PAGES KIT
The cost will be $19.00
and will include Stand Kit and 12 scrapbook layouts to insert into page protectors.

As you can see I painted the one above in white because it matches most craft rooms-but I will definitely be making another one in Black & Red.  The nice thing about this stand is when you are done displaying your pages you have an entire year scrapped and ready to put into an album.  If you add an additional 6 page protectors then you can display each page on its own with a Monthly Calendar on the back.  This way it does double duty its a page display and a calendar.  How awesome is this????

Please pre-order now through December 5th Kits will be ready Monday December 6th to pick up or ship.  I
will post a PayPal button on the right sidebar this evening.

Santa's Bag Mini Album

I created this mini album for my Swap Partner over on Your Paper Pantry.  I created my OWN SHAPE in chipboard and then covered it with quilt batting and red silk fabric.  I created a cinch closure to keep the 7" round chipboard pages all nice and snug inside.  I Love how this Album turned out and think I will be making some more.  I have a friend that I think needs a Santa Bag this Christmas.  I have posted the video below so that you can watch a more detailed description.  I also have two more Holiday Projects I will post tonight and tomorrow.  I just can't get enough of Christmas Projects!

I have been asked to explain how I display MY own Mini's so I thought now was a good time to do that.  I just love making mini's!!!! It gives me a sense of completing something.  I can usually create one in a day or two depending on how quickly the image pops in my head.  I use my mini's as Home Decor Items.  I display them for the Holiday they represent and then pack them away with the rest of the ornaments or decorations.

My sweet Hubby Kyle also made me a display coffee table that acts as a horizontal shadow box and I have some of my Family's Favorites displayed under the glass.  I have to say that my Children are the main reason I make so many Mini Albums.  They love seeing their pictures out and remembering moments we have shared together in a quick and compact sort of way.  The mini's can always be handled-They are interactive and are NEVER HANDS OFF-so that makes them even more FUN for kids.  Its the kind of thing they like to SHOW OFF to friends or dates.  It is so much easier to show a quick mini about a Fun Event or Holiday then to drag out the YEARS worth of Scrapbook Albums chronicaling their lives.
As long as my KIDS like them I will keep making them-they keep us chatting and sharing and every new adventure becomes MINI WORTHY!

Sketches

Some of you have requested more layout ideas or sketches to be posted.  I will do my best to either create a sketch from my layouts or to give you some great references for sketches I think you might enjoy.  This sketch came from a great website called Let's Scrap.  It is a scrapbook community that posts sketches and sample layouts every week to help inspire its members.  There are several sites like this one on the web, for those of you that love SKETCHES I encourage you to check them out.

Disney Christmas Cards

Some of you have asked for Disney Christmas Cards.  Disney cartridges are a bit more advanced but for those of you that can handle the layers-I have made two Christmas Cards using these adorable characters.
Here Comes Mickey Claus
Made using Mickey & Friends with the Flip Function. Mickey size 3.5" from page 80.  Hat and Santa sack from Paper Doll Dress Up  made at 2.5".  I cut the ties from the Santa sack and added my own cording with a couple of mini red jingle bells.  I also used a rectangle from Plantin for the chimney and a  cup of coffee from A Child's Year for the smoke.  Inside the card I used a tree & gift from Joys of the Season.
Close up of Mickey.  Use a black & white pen to add details.

This Winnie the Pooh Card was made using Pooh & Friends cartridge page 24 and hat from page 58 (Icon Creative Feature used) & Calligraphy Collection for the Scroll.  I stamped Naughty or Nice using a Close to My Heart acrylic stamp set called Santa's List D1383.
Hope you enjoy both of these cards.  They were so much FUN to make.  Let me know what other kinds you would like to see or which cartridges you want to see me use.  I am working on some layouts and sketches I hope to post more new items in a couple of days.
