Monday Inspiration

Happy Monday everyone!  Welcome to my New Followers that joined us during the Earth Day Blog Hop.  Hello again to my loyal Creative Cutter Friends that stop by everyday to say hello!

Today I have an inspiration project.  This is my Idea Journal that I keep on my Craft Desk next to my computer.  If I see a YouTube video idea I like or something online that I like or I get an idea for a future project I want to sketch I put it all in my IDEA JOURNAL.

This is just a regular no line journal that I picked up at Barnes & Noble that I covered in my favorite colors.  I added some Vinyl Lettering and a Vinyl Fleur de Lis Shape to the center.  There is a little Prima Marketing berry branch with some coordinating ribbon and a little cardstock I border punched with a Stampin' Up punch.  It was so fun and easy and I know where to find my measurements and ideas every time!  Hope you feel INSPIRED to make your own journal-you will be glad you did!

There is still time to enter our last Design Time Thursday Challenge for your chance to win the
Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge

and now for the announcement you have been waiting for:

*Here is my Project*:
I used chipboard and Bazzill Cardstock to create an Easel Photo Memo Box.  I have all of the required elements in this gift my children will give their Grandma this Mother's Day. I used the following Cricut Carts:
Ornatmental Iron
Mother's Day 2010
Home Decor
Sweethearts
Side view open

This is the top view when box is closed.  The glare is from a page protector I cut down to fit the lid and then attached with tiny brads at the top and score tape behind the layered vines and pink flowers on top of the page protector.
This is what it looks like when you insert a picture in the page protector.  The gate is behind the image and the vines, flowers and title will go over top of the picture.  I plan to put a picture of the kids with their Grandma.  Since she will be babysitting for us in CA while my husband and I are on the cruise I thought this would be a nice way to also create a keepsake from the visit.

Talk Time Tuesday: Thank You Easter Bunny

Well it's getting closer and my kids are excited to see what sweet treats the Easter Bunny will bring.  For this week's Talk Time Tuesday let's talk about your favorite Easter memory.  This is an especially religious time of year and that usually means we are all thinking about family and those special traditions.  My favorite Easter memories involve playing on the front lawn in our new Sunday Easter best and waiting for my mom to serve a spectacular feast.
I created this fast little bunny box full of Easter M&M's yum.  I used a band aid box I purchased at my local craft store.  I used Modge Podge to adhere paper to the body and lid of box and then I used the following Cricut Carts:
Give a Hoot for the Tree
Winter Woodland for the Bunny
Plantin Schoolbook for the Grass
I used foam tape & embossing folders to create depth.  I also used Distress Stickles on the tree.
Now for our Winner for last week's Talk Time Tuesday:
Chosen with Random.org

I was away on a Scrapbook Retreat this weekend with some friends and had a wonderful time doing nothing in particular.  That is always a great feeling.  I feel rested, relaxed and more importantly recharged to get ready for the crazy couple of weeks I am in for.  I need to work on some editing for the book, prepare my class kits for the cruise, prepare my 6 kids, 3 dogs and 4 puppies for our vacation, clean house and get my projects ready for some wonderful upcoming blog hops.  Please check back on April 22nd when I will take part in a "Green" Earth Day Blog Hop that DT Gaby is hosting for her Birthday a
and then a fun Disney/Pixar Hop I will join in on for May 1st.
whew........
Meanwhile I thought I would share some cards I created this weekend for my Sweet Sentiments project(cards for the elderly in Nursing Homes).  I used an under appreciated cartridge: Preserves for the Peach and Grapes.
I also used some very beautiful thick patterned paper from DCWV Four Seasons Stack.  I couldn't resist adding some embossed texture with D'vine Swirl & Swiss Dots embossing folders for the cuttlebug.

I also wanted to share a great Sketch Site that some of you will want to check out.  Click HERE to go to Stuck On U Sketches and try out one of their sketch challenges.  Looks like so much fun.  Here is this weeks sketch challenge.

Talk Time Tuesday: All in One Embossing System

This week Creative Cutter Gaby is sharing her a Tip for using the new All in One Embossing System.  Be sure and visit her blog to see all of her wonderful crafting creations.  Leave us a comment and one person will be chosen randomly to receive the Bo Bunny 6x6 paper stack Blast Off.  The winner for last week's Talk Time Tuesday will be posted at the end of this post.

Gaby here with a Tip on Tuesday:
This is the Cuttlebug All-In-One Embossing System. You must purchase this separately from the embossing plates.

Here is one of the embossing plates. This is the Cupcake Celebration.

You open the case to find the positive and negative plates inside organized in plastic masks?

I lifted the cupcake one and you can see the other parts in this
separate mask/container.

If you are not careful lifting your mask/container, this is what happens.  Some of you might be OK with this, but some of you might want to keep them all organized.

I chose this corner design for demo purposes. Here you can see the positive plate (green) and the negative plate (clear).

Here I aligned and placed the positive on the bottom to emboss and the clear on top. Make sure they align on the pegs.

Here I placed my cardstock before running through the embossing
machine.

If you are going to use a Cuttlebug, you need to place two B plates on top of the All-In-One and insert in your machine arrow first.

If you are going to use a Sizzix Big Shot, you place your two clear
plates on top before running it through.

I additionally tested with one clear plate on top and another one on the bottom instead of both on top, and it worked just fine.

Here you can see that I embossed (green on bottom, clear on top)
and I debossed (clear on bottom, green on top). I am loving this system, I hope you enjoy yours!
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!
